As a progressive and leader of a grassroots group, I watched the debate on Thursday. It made me fall deeper in love with our candidate, and here is why.
Laurie, this is the best written piece I’ve read on our lived experience of the past 12 years and the best outline of what another Biden presidency can give to our nation.
I will commit my vote to Biden while advocating for all true and strong Democrats on all ballots and for any and all offices on any election ballot in 2024. Otherwise our democracy is gone.

I'm reeling over the NYT, media soundbites, and our so called experts who are calling for Biden to step down. I'm sticking with the one with a proven track record.
Laurie, the point you made that it is not the fact that a person stumbles but whether that person can get up and start over and move forward toward a goal that is important and shows true character. So crucial to remember when evaluating those who would be our public servants. Hurrah for Joe! A true leader with the right values but like the rest of us, not perfect. Yay for Joe! No need to show that Biden has been a good president. It’s that the debate has cast doubt that he has the mental acuity to be president, particularly when he approaches 86. He must not run, because he will lose.
This I observe, that Biden doesn’t talk about what HE did. He talks about what his administration did. That includes his cabinet and white House staff and others working as a well oiled and empathetic politically knowledgeable team, FOR the American 🇺🇸 people. The 🍊diaper clad talks about HIMSELF. He had all kinds of decrepit narcissistic criminals as his team. He elevated unqualified neanderthals to highly powerful positions heaping misery upon the American people. Most if his White House staff has been criminally indicted. None will vote for him that is still eligible to vote for now. All his hack lawyers have to get lawyers as they, too are indicted. And HE and ONLY HE can fix everything. He does nothing of his promises. Declaring often he is going to release some lofty details in a couple weeks. But never does. He has MAGICAL THINKING. 🤔 the idea 💡 that if he THINKS of something, therefore it is true. Well he ought to THINK 💭 of himself not shitting in his own diaper, then perhaps in HIS mind ONLY it will be trueX
Thank you for all you wrote. I feel exactly the same. Shame on those howling for this good man, our President, to step down. He rose up the next day and was 💯. I would feel sick being in the same room as a liar. Trump is truly an existential threat. I am 100 percent behind my Joe. ❤️
It was so sad to see Joe fall flat ... But I am with you! Your message is inspiring. We have to stand with Joe (and under him if necessary) - the alternative is too frightening. And Biden has been a good, a successful president! 90 minutes does not destroy a man nor a great record of accomplishment.
One of the strong traits that Biden has demonstrated is that he is RESILIANT! He is also humble and accepts the criticism of the debatel He admits that he sometimes fails. Like all of us, we have our good days and bad days. I have felt this in my own life experience. I have not always performed at my best so I can identify with Biden. I also forget my train of thought from time to time, particularly when I am pressured. We seem to expect perfection in presentations by our leaders. Trump was impressive and he was also LYING most of the time! How do we comparet the two and WHY do we compare the two?
